Project Description
The Gold Coast Aquatic Centre is the venue for the swimming and diving competition for the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Redevelopment of the aquatic centre is one of the most significant Commonwealth Games legacy projects and will provide new world class facilities for the Gold Coast.
The upgrade will include a new 10-lane 50 metre competition pool, learn-to-swim pool, elevated spectator concourse/viewing terrace, new change room, gym, toilet facilities, community meeting rooms, event facilities, permanent seating for approximately 1000 people, refurbishment of the existing 8 lane 50 metre pool and dive pool.
Construction commenced in March 2013 and is expected to take approximately 16 months. The new Gold Coast Aquatic Centre will open to the community in Spring 2014 following the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships
